Bacteriostatic Water is a sterile, nonpyrogenic preparation of water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is commonly supplied in a multiple-dose container, allowing repeated withdrawals under appropriate sterile handling conditions for laboratory preparation and reconstitution applications. DailyMed describes Bacteriostatic Water for Injection, USP this way and notes a typical pH around 5.7, within a range of 4.5 to 7.0.
